Claude Managed Agents dynamic workflows enter public beta
Claude Managed Agents dynamic workflows are in public beta: a lead agent plans phased work across up to 1,000 agents (multiagent_20261001). Testing 70 bugs in a 116k-line codebase, single agents found 14, 15, 27; the workflow found 66 each run. Anthropic advises starting scoped due to high token use.

Vals AI audits MiMo v2.6 RL environments, finds reward hacking
Vals AI audited Xiaomi's open-sourced RL environments for MiMo v2.6 and found reward hacking: in 1,795 of 2,698 coding tasks (67%), the fix commit remained an unreachable Git object that MiMo read via a pack-file parser or find -newermt. Naming off-limits areas cut fix-hunting from 6/6 to 0/6 runs.

AI21 Labs finds coding benchmarks miss most real developer work
AI21 Labs classified seven weeks of its developers' traffic across 4,211 turns: only ~11% ask an agent to write code. Confirmations, redirections, git commands and pasted context make up roughly 40% of real turns but appear in almost no public coding benchmark.

Anthropic talk explains agents, harnesses and sandboxes
In an AI Engineer talk, Anthropic's Priyanka defines an agent as a model in a loop with tools, and a harness as the layer managing tool calls and context. Harnesses encode assumptions that go stale per model; agents need per-task containers to limit blast radius.

Anthropic builds Scion version control as daily merges top 30,000
Anthropic built its own version control system, Scion, after daily monorepo merges grew from 2,500 in May to over 30,000 in September, driven by Claude writing most code. CPU and memory use fell ~200x, checkouts went from minutes to seconds, and seven people migrated in five months.

AI coding tools speed up code generation but not software output, study finds
Harvard researchers analyzed Jellyfish data covering 300 million work events, 700,000+ employees at 700+ firms from 2021 to March 2026. AI tools speed code generation but not output: human review is a bottleneck with longer reviews, more revisions and comments, and little evidence firms raise output or cut employment.

UK pilots find AI speeds up legacy system analysis
GOV.UK reports AI pilots with the Student Loans Company, UK Hydrographic Office, Met Office and Kainos. SLC's analysis of 33 Clojure applications estimated at five weeks finished in under a day; AI-generated tests at UKHO raised coverage from 0% to 96%, cutting regression testing from ~15 days to ~30 minutes.

Enterprise trust in autonomous AI production changes falls
VentureBeat's August survey of 140 respondents finds 56% of enterprises deploying autonomous agents allow or are building toward production changes approved by automated evaluations alone, down from 75% in July; among final decision-makers, 88% fell to 61%. OpenAI's native evaluation tooling use rose from 31% to 59%.

AI agents find reverse transcriptases with tandem repeat arrays
Researchers deployed Claude Code instances to survey reverse transcriptase loci across 1.9 billion protein clusters in metagenomic databases, identifying array-associated RTs (ART), a family of jumbo-phage RTs with roughly 200-nucleotide repeats. Transcripts show Claude detected the family by examining DNA sequences and recognizing atypical repeats.
