Terms of use
Last updated: 10 October 2026
These terms apply to everything the Observatory offers: this website, its publications by email, on Telegram, on LinkedIn and on YouTube, and its answers to readers. By using any of these, you accept the terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Observatory.
Who runs the Observatory
The Observatory is an independent news service about artificial intelligence and Ethiopia. Mikael Alemu Gorsky runs it from Herzliya, Israel. You can write to it at policy@mgorsky.net.
What the Observatory offers
The Observatory reads several hundred public sources every day and publishes short reports on what it finds. Its publications are free. You may subscribe to them by email or on Telegram, read them on this website, or follow them on Telegram, LinkedIn and YouTube. Readers may also send letters and questions, which the Observatory may answer.
How the material is made
The Observatory’s material is made by software that uses AI models and follows written editorial rules, which a person sets and reviews. The software chooses the stories, writes summaries in the Observatory’s own words, translates them, and composes each issue. The videos are assembled automatically, and their narration is spoken by a synthetic voice.
The Observatory does not check whether a claim is true. It reports where a claim comes from and who stands behind it, and it labels claims that come only from the party making them. Its summaries may contain errors or leave out details that matter, and a summary may be published before the original is corrected. Every note links to its source, and you should read the source before you rely on a claim. Nothing the Observatory publishes is financial, investment, legal or medical advice.
Answers to questions sent by email or Telegram are written by the software from the Observatory’s published notes, and a person does not check them before they are sent. Letters sent through this website are read by a person.
Sources and their owners
The articles, posts, papers, recordings and other works that the Observatory reads belong to their authors and publishers. The Observatory writes its own summaries and links to the originals instead of reproducing them. If you own material that the Observatory has summarized and you object to how it was used, please write to policy@mgorsky.net, and Mikael Alemu Gorsky will look into the matter without delay.
Using the Observatory’s material
You may read, forward and share the Observatory’s issues, and you may quote from them, provided that you name the Observatory as the source and, where you can, link to the original. You need written permission to republish whole issues or large parts of the Book, to sell them, or to use them as material for another automated service or for training AI models.
Subscriptions
A subscription starts only after you confirm your email address through the link the Observatory sends you. You can stop it at any time through the link in every issue or by writing to the Observatory. The Observatory may change the schedule or content of a publication, or end it, and it will tell the subscribers of a publication before ending it.
Letters and questions
Please write only what you are entitled to share. The Observatory does not publish your letter or your name without your permission. It may limit how many messages one person sends in a day, and it may leave a message unanswered.
Fair use of the service
You may not use the Observatory to send abusive, unlawful or misleading material, to flood it with messages, or to try to make its software act outside its purpose, for example by writing instructions meant to change how the software behaves. The Observatory may block anyone who does so.
YouTube
The Observatory publishes some of its issues as videos on its YouTube channels, through YouTube API Services. The use of YouTube is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service, at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms. By watching the Observatory’s videos on YouTube, or by using any part of the Observatory that relies on YouTube API Services, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s Privacy Policy, at https://policies.google.com/privacy, explains how Google handles information on YouTube, and the Observatory’s privacy policy explains what the Observatory does with YouTube information.
Other platforms
Telegram and LinkedIn publish some of the Observatory’s material, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
No guarantee
The Observatory is offered free and as it is. It does not promise that its material is complete, accurate or up to date, or that its publications will arrive on time or without interruption.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Mikael Alemu Gorsky is not liable for any loss or damage that results from relying on the Observatory’s material, from delays or interruptions in its publications, or from the content of the sources it links to.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the new version will appear on this page with a new date. If you continue to use the Observatory after a change, you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the courts of Tel Aviv have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
Privacy
The Observatory’s privacy policy explains what information the Observatory receives and what it does with it.
